Biography

Dr. Andreas Burgdorf has been working as a research assistant at the TMDT at the University of Wuppertal since September 2019.

Dr. Burgdorf studied computer science with a focus on medical applications at RWTH Aachen University. From October 2016 to August 2019, he was a research assistant at the Cybernetics Lab IMA & IfU, where he carried out various research and development projects on the use of machine learning and natural language processing in the fields of logistics, telecommunications, and production before moving to the University of Wuppertal. There, he received his doctorate in April 2025 with a thesis entitled “A Novel Approach to Semantic Mapping through a Documentation-Centric Methodology.”

He took over as head of KI4BUW in 2023 and is involved in various aspects of strengthening AI expertise at the University of Wuppertal.
